AMG Logistics Update -Sanwo-Olu: Electronic call-up system will end Apapa gridlock
The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said that the modern electronic call-up mechanism for trucks launched by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) would be the “beginning of the end of the Apapa gridlock.”
The Governor also promised that his administration will deploy an appropriate number of towing vehicles to impound trucks illegally parking on port access roads this Saturday.
The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, said Sanwo-Olu made these known during a meeting with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) at the Government House in Alausa on Tuesday.
With the new scheme, the flow of trucks to and from the Lagos Seaports will now be coordinated into a straightforward electronic call-up system that will be focused on the first-come-first-served basis.
The massive amount to be paid as a fine for flouting the call-up system would be a disincentive for drivers not to replicate it.
