AMG Logistics Update: Lagos Closes Third Mainland Bridge Friday
The Third Mainland Bridge will be entirely closed from midnight on Friday (tomorrow) to midnight on Saturday.
In a statement, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, clarified that the total closing of the bridge had been designed to allow the contractors to move the machinery used during the reconstruction project entirely off the bridge, enabling both the Oworonshoki and the Adeniji bound lanes to be fully opened to traffic.
Oladeinde said that having finished the replacement of the 12th expansion joint and the demobilization of the Third Mainland Bridge superstructure, the closure will be effected.
Motorists from Ogudu, Alapere and Gbagada were then advised to use Ikorodu Lane, Jibowu and Yaba as alternate routes, while Iyana Oworoshoki-bound traffic from Lagos-Island, Iddo, Oyingbo, Adekunle and Yaba was ordered to use Herbert Macaulay Way, Jibowu and Ikorodu Road as alternative routes.
He also assured that traffic control staff will be mobilized along the routes involved to reduce and fix any traffic barriers during the closure period.
