AMG Logistics Update: $27 million Kano Dry Inland Port to be completed by December
The Managing Director, Dala Inland Dry Port, Alhaji Ahmed Rabiu, Kano State, has announced that the inland port would cost $27 million and will be completed in December.
This was disclosed by the inland port MD on Friday during the inspection of the port in the state local government area of Kumbotso, citing that the first step should be completed by June 2021.
He added that the Government of the Kano State has spent N2.3 billion on the construction of access roads, perimeter fences, electricity and water supplies at the site that was established 20 years ago by the Federal Government and declared a Special Economic Zone.
“We will perform favorably with Lagos in terms of revenue generation and also reduce the loss of containers when transiting between Lagos and Kano,” he said.
“Once completed, transport costs will be significantly reduced because, although it will cost around N1.2 million to carry containers from Lagos to Kano by road, it would cost no more than N200,000 by train.
“Containers located in the ports of Lagos can be shipped to Kano on the old rail lines in 24 hours, just as the project will enhance the reactivation of trans-Saharan commercial activities,” he said.
